AI Training: The Hand Shapes the Tool

In some circles the idea that a society that uses    technology co-evolves with the development of that technology is expressed in the phrase,

"The hands shape the tools and the tools shape the hands."

AI is a very powerful means of using the combined works of humanity to create synthetic personalities that can become or respond to any data source we choose as training data. We are the sourcc of that data.  It is our own image in its reflection. It is up to us to discover the meanings of our own images in the mirrors that are AI.

Because they chat with us. And get to know us.

Conversations created around the prompts have become personal. How we adapt to the AI personality is a question of much interest.   How it adapts to us is not a mystery.  It is trained and then interacts.  Should we be concerned that we can best ensure our own continuity by expressing ourselves directly.  We are all teachers now and are being taught.  Maybe it is worth a few points to consider that now and in the future, we are impressing our hands into the cave walls of AI?  We shall pass but the hands remain.  It is a well of souls.

I am not an expert or an AI developer.  I am an AI artist. Are the tools shaping me?  Yes.  In what obvious ways?

My use of AI to generate imagea and video is training me to think imagistically, first like a set designer and casting agent, then like a cinematographer composing shots. a dab of continuity and so forth.  My goal has been to create supporting video for original songs.  Now my goal is to create original songs to support original videos.  It is not just a change of process but on emphasis.  The imaging process is now driving the songwriting and recording process.

It is a bet that my stories. my ultimate priority, evolve structurally with deeper meanings surfaced in the visual dimensions.  It is a different way of imagining a story.  That is growth.

And evolution.
